Miscanthus Giganteus 1 gallon size field divisions (Qty 5)

$41.50

 Sold Out
Sold out for spring 2024, sorry. Fall orders start in mid summer, shipping in mid Nov.

Quantity of 5- 1 gallon size (large handful size), bare root to semi bare root field grown divisions. 12-14' tall miscanthus giganteus, easy to grow in most soils, hardy zones 4-9. Best in fertile soils in full sun, but will grow in part shade and even in sandy soils. Clump forming, non invasive, but vigorous. Planting recommendations are 2.5- 3' spacing on this larger size starter clump. Expect 6-10' of height and 1 .5' of width in the first year. These larger starts should have more stems per plant over 1/2 gallon divisions. Timing is important when planting. Plants must have good moisture, but it should not be soggy out when you plant, or root rot and losses can occur.

This grass is popular for fast privacy hedges, useful in hunting and wildlife applications for cover and screening, and used in the field for biofuel production.

Before planting all existing vegetation should be removed and weed management will need to be practiced though the growing season. We start our harvest in late Oct. (needing to wait for a few good frosts). We ship Nov- early May so long as temperatures are not below zero, as it is fully cold hardy.

Please note: we use paypal as a credit card processor, you do not need a paypal account to check out. Check by mail is accepted. Check or cash when picking up at the nursery. Thank you.
