First Arrival ITOH Peony

First Arrival ITOH - Gorgeous-extra large, semi double lavender pink flowers -bloom early in the peony season. ITOH varieties are a cross between garden type peonies and tree form peonies. This results in very vigourous plants, with sturdy stems, needing no staking. Blooms are abundant and very large. Plants can bloom for up to a month, much longer than garden type.

Roots are about 8" long, 2-4" wide with 2-3 eyes (growth buds for next years stems). It may take one or two years for these to bloom after having been divided in fall. Can be planted in spring, but best in fall, it allows for more root development and quicker bloom. Plant in full sun to part shade, in fertile, moist, but well draining sites.
